Edward P. Bonollo Principal/Forensic Fire Investigator
He has over over 39 years of experience in the public sector fire service ranging from Firefighter, Firefighter/Paramedic , Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Marshal. His last 14 years were as a Deputy Fire Marshal/Fire Investigator with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. During his Fire Service career he conducted over 1000 fire/explosion investigations. He has led many fatal fire investigations, multi-million dollar commercial and residential fire losses, and criminal investigations. He has provided expert testimony on multiple occasions in grand juries, depositions, trials criminal and civil.
He is very knowledgeable about standard practices regarding fire scene excavation, evidence collection and chain of custody. He has received extensive training related to gas, electric, incendiary fire investigation, explosions, fire fatalities, wild land fire investigation, hazardous materials and interview techniques. He is very skilled at identifying potentially hazardous sites and materials, and in taking appropriate actions to conduct thorough examinations.
He has been the Training Coordinator for the Portland, Oregon Metro Fire Investigation Team. An instructor for the ATF BATS (Bomb Arson Tracking System) Program. He has received extensive training from the ATF in the field of fire investigation, explosives and interviewing.
He has an extensive knowledgeable about fire codes and related ordinances. Certified with the International Code Council (ICC) as a Fire Inspector II since 2007. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) and member of ASIS including ASIS Chapter 134.
He has conducted multiple Fire Investigation training to Federal Fire Department Hawaii for members of their Fire Prevention section, which has included five 40-Hour Basic Fire Investigation programs.
